All I hear are frogs outside. Hello?! Crazy rain is reshaping our suburban landscape.

I’m really hungry for some rice right now.

Moving backward to Mal Pais. Yes folks, “Bad Country.” Really, it wasn’t all that bad. We stayed at a surf camp owned by a surfer from New Jersey. Nice place. They had hot water which is kind of hard to find in Costa Rica.

A bit o’ color for you. This is the path we took from the surf camp grounds to the beach. It’s hard to translate into words the beauty of this little stretch of land. It was nothing special, really…just a lot of old trees, layers of brown leaves on the ground and caribou grazing. Perhaps it was the light that was so ethereal. No matter what time of day we ambled through here to cut over to the beach, it always seemed like it was dusk.

More coastline from Montezuma. Around the corner to the right was a tidepool we swam around in one aft. Did I mention the legion of killer crabs making inroads into the tidepool? They were so ready to eat us up.

Normally I am not inclined to take pictures of animals, but for some reason I felt compelled to snap the hotel’s cat.

Backtracking. This is where our trip started: San Jose. San Jose was (is) very city. There was a perpetual drizzle in the air the few days we were there.

Second morning in San Jose, when we did finally get up in time for breakfast. I had the best cup of coffee (of the whole trip) there. We could hardly get over the exceedingly large jar of Nutella at our disposal. The Nutella must’ve been imported from Europe (the hotel owner was Italian) because Costa Ricans aren’t really into the stuff.
