Ten days until the school year (ie. work) starts up again. (groan)

Got up at an early 5:40 am today. Residual jet lag I suppose.

Back from Iberialand.

We got caught in a bit of rain today and there was a mix-up with the pirate ship schedule so we’re going sea-caving some other time this week.

After a frantic sprint through the BCN airport and 2 Portuguese train rides (one air-conditioned and one sauna), we got to Portimão (in the coastal Algarve region of Portugal) in the sweltering heat of the afternoon.  Portimâo is crawling with tourists, but the ocean is still beautiful with red and ochre cliffs.  The weather is definitely more palatable than BCN, not as humid and a lot cooler at nights with a breeze coming in at night from the Atlantic.

Today and tomorrow is mostly about winding down and relaxing, but come Tuesday we may visit a grotto or two (sea cave) on a pirate ship.  Arrrrrrrr!

Boa nôite.

Leaving BCN for Portimao, Portugal. Ojala que no haya un retraso en nuetro vuelo. 😉 Time to put the microscopic amount of Portuguese in my head to use!

In reply to strandedplum´s comment on my last entry, yes, we had a rough start: a lot of waiting in airports and conversely, running to catch planes. Keili and I literally sprinted through the whole Frankfurt Airport to catch our last in a string of delayed flights. Having woken up sore this afternoon after no less than 13 hours of sleep, I would say that we´ve settled in.

Barcelona is fabulous and just as I remembered it (with a few changes of course). I feel like I never left.
